Ergonomic Nerditude Ahoy
Dec. 5th, 2007 01:59 amI have found one-handed ergonomic keyboard bliss. Think your naughty thoughts, then read on.
I found out about the Nostromo Speedpad N52 (Best Buy link) from the faaaabulous Mark Sweeney at Panel and Pixel.
Nostromo is a one-handed keypad forgamers for digital artists and anyone else who wants to use a keyboard without agony.
Awesome programmability via a profile editor. Takes a while, but worth it. You can put in profiles for every program you run, and the manager knows what you're in. It can be programmed to toggle through four shift states per profile.
Goes well with the Cintiq, and gets rid of ridiculous impossible keyboard reaches. Really comfy. All about the ongoing elimination of hand pain. Has a rubbery bottom so it doesn't slip, so there's no chasing it or straining to hold it still.
Apparently, it could be programmed for plain ol' alphabetical input, meaning a ditching of long-obsolete QWERTY in word processing or typesetting. I'm so doing this.
Works on Mac and PC. Under $40. (I had Best Buy certificates.)
(Also good for web surfing and, okay, gaming.)
