Dear [livejournal.com profile] arcana_j Lisa,

Here is your tiara. The mariachi band is playing. I may be the only one singing along with "Happy Birthday" in Laotian, but I am bellowing with the enthusiasm of hundreds.
This is my public declaration of love for my heterosexual life partner!

You are one of my best friends.
You are awesomely funny.
You laugh at my jokes, which makes you a fine human, and encourages me to tell more.
You are a bossy damn wench.
You are a terrific editor.
You taught me how to write letters about unpleasant things but say them in a pleasant way.
You taught me that you can disagree with someone and stay friends.
You are the QUEEN of the Movie Quotes. QUEEN!
I wish you health, happiness, chocolate and money. Feel free to define those as drunk, drunk in the pool, "with CARmel", and always enough change in your pocket for coffee.

Love,

Lea

Dear [livejournal.com profile] kynn

For your birfday, how about I finish those commissions by the end of the month? Yeah, that'd be good!

Have a great day, thanks for being a friend and reader!

Tonight was National Night Out. Which could also be called, where I live, "round up the smokers!" night. We had fajitas, feral pig, ribs, brisket, sausage, cake, cherry limeade fixin's from Sonic, beans, deviled eggs and BEER.
My piece of carrot cake that was for my breakfast is gone, Boy ate it. Lots of our police came by, and city officials. I have a lovely picture of one of them with a mouth full of fajita.
Our street won for Hospitality (second year in a row!), and we had a great GREAT time. I really love living here. It is so laid-back.
I have some awesome pictures I'll post tomorrow, because I don't trust myself to get them posted correctly right now because I am having BEER.
It was funny how many people looked at my hair and looked away without saying anything. I finally said to a fireman, "Yes, my hair IS pink." And he grinned a tight grin and went, "Eh heh heh!" because I caught him trying to figure it out.
The kids were super. Girl drew for the little kids, and Boy was just his chill, polite self. All the kids played well together.

I will add I know which of our neighbors are total mack daddies now, and that means three feet between me and them from now on.

The highlight was getting one of the cops to visit King, who was still baking cookies and vaporing about how cookies weren't enough. The cop told him there was an ordinance against stressing out--after he scared the shit out of him just by knocking on the door. He was totally on the hook when I came dancing along the sidewalk, waving my arms.

The payback for that one will be fearsome, but it was WORTH IT.

I love my neighborhood SO MUCH. I feel like I am totally getting paid back for every shitty place I ever had to live before.

The night tonight is beautiful. There's a half-moon with a star high above it. Our parched yard looks gorgeous. I smell like a fire goddess.

Hope everyone had a lovely day!
