Texas Book Festival - 2007 Calendar

Sunday, from 12:30 to 1:30, then off to the author's tent to sign books which have been bought through Barnes and Noble. Money raised will benefit Texas libraries.
Note: I will not be selling books myself at the book signing event that follows the panel.

The Festival is a non-profit and pays no honorariums for author appearances, which means I'm coming up on my own dime to talk Texas Comics with Terry Moore, Paul Benjamin, and Matthew Sturges, so please come see me and us and bring a pal or two.

Oh, the hours spent researching grants, matching grants, assistance, and on and on and on, to find matching funds for the Hero Initiative grant towards the cost of a Cintiq.
To absolutely no avail.
This search has been incredibly depressing, and left my stomach in knots. Anything that's not a scam is for an organization, or for academic work, or for craft.
I am unqualified, for one reason or another (wrong artistic discipline, wrong region, wrong media, not a medical emergency) for everything I have looked into.
Before anyone suggests it, meaning well, and causes my head to explode, the Xeric is for self-publishing.
I am not willing to get (nor do I even have the credit for) a loan. Seriously. I really do not have the credit.

Believe me, if you suggest it, I've looked into it.
I'd be delighted to be told of some source for a matching grant, a one-time assistance thing, someone who wants to be an art patron in return for a set amount of work in return that I have not already seen. Legit ones, not $27.99 eboo.ks, or dollar-a-day grant emails, and so on

Please with sugar don't suggest, even as a joke, Google or that Lesko book. I will react badly.

I'd LOVE to know about a legit source of funding or patronage.
