Please take a look at my follow-up on this post here.
ETA: Please, if you are going to bag on this, or discuss it, or offer an opinion, no hooker jokes. I know it's easy, but...it's too easy. Let's limit it to bad wardrobe, poor choice of PR shot, speculation about Pshopping, and "can't have nice things."
That said, the hooker jokes are deleted. This is a picture of a real person who is only doing her legal job and who looks like the Smallville costumer hates her, and is saddled with a PR department that underestimates the show's audience.
I'm not mad, it's just not appropriate.
This is a picture of Laura Vandervoort as Supergirl, as she will (apparently) appear in the new season of Smallville.
I hate everything about this costume but the boots. My first response to it was my usual "Another don't get it, another female heroine designed for guys to look at, and another damn bare midriff costume," disgust.
My second thought was that someone had Photoshopped Laura Vandevoort's head onto a Tonner Supergirl doll redressed in a Daisy Duke dolls' clothes.
Why the tube top with the scary foundation? Why the low-slung shorts? Did she pinch the hoodie from a ten-year-old? Yeah, yeah, I get it that the character put it together from her closet--but apparently we're to believe she did it with clothes she's outgrown and she did this all with her eyes closed and in a big hurry.
Yet another example of "Oh, you can have a female character, you just have to have one men want to look at." And no, I'm not particularly grateful she's not dressed in the fluffy stripper skirt, thanks.
