Good Thoughts, Please!
Jun. 7th, 2006 09:38 pmWe have made contact with a program that provides dental care for patients who have Down Syndrome, Cerebal Palsy, or are Mentally Handicapped being at least two years below chronological age in function. Boy, whose highest function is about seven and a half, and lowest around four, qualifies.*
So, the paperwork goes in tomorrow, and the local contact person says he'll expedite it, and we'll hope for the best. Think good thoughts for us!
*I love my boy so so much, but it makes me cry to write that. And you can go ahead and send me your goddamn letters about how I'm "bitterest bullshit artist and neediest whiner on the internet"--I know it's not true. More than that, it takes a breathtakingly callous person to say that, especially in email. I write what I write about so other people can not feel alone in having special-needs children, depression, money worries and so on.
My way of dealing with it isn't to shit rainbows every time I feel bad. Dig it.
