What a Nerd Fight at Newsarama.
Natural Born Killers, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and From Hell producer Don Murphy decides to get down 'n' Nerdy with Rich Johnston.
SEE! Murphy NEVER answer Rich's question about Fox settling a plagarism case because of similarities between the movie League and a screenplay called "Cast of Character." (EDIT: I looked it up, and found an article on it at Seqart.com: http://www.sequart.com/news/index.php?story=438 . Fox did indeed settle.)
THRILL! at how someone posts a link to an article about Murphy suing Quentin Tarantino for pain after Tarantino smacked Murphy on the wrist and broke his watchband.
GASP! at how Murphy goes from complaining about Moore complaining to saying he hopes Moore has a friend who can help him.
BE AMAZED that Murphy actually wonders aloud if Moore asked Carroll, Barrie, Stevenson, Stoker if they were okay with how their characters were used in Moore's books. I'm tempted to think Murphy believes the authors of Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Dracula are still alive, because otherwise that's just such a STUPID question to ask.
Sure, League is a Philip Jose Farmer-like pastiche, a work of fanfiction, but it IS more than the sum of it's parts. And comparing what Moore did with Jekyll and Mina to the film version of League (were Mina can change into a flock of bats, where Mina's not the leader of the League, and where Jekyll is the Saddest Li'l Monster Ever) is just stupid.
It's just...damn. I think Eddie Campbell summed it up well in his post: "...and somebody in Hollywood calling somebody outside of Hollywood 'insane' is rife with potential for more satire... and don't go taking that personally."

EDIT: Holy CRAP, Don, just keep on your James Brown cape and stay off the stage you were quitting two pages ago, already.
EDIT 2: "All you do is try to be clever and not say a damn thing." Don Murphy, producer of Natural Born Killers, From hell, and LoEG, to Lea Hernandez at Newsarama.com
EDIT 3: "Did you go to her LJ post? Reading is obviously hard for her." Don Murphy, producer of Natural Born Killers, From hell, and LoEG, assessing my reading comprehension for TGerhardt, at Newsarama.com.
