Shaved! Cats!

Phase One of Shock-a-Cat was completed today! Jane, Mini-Jane and Boots went to the vet's. In spite of the tiny hitch of them being administered ear mite meds I did NOT sign off on (but was charged for, along with the mite meds I DID sign off on, settling that in the morning), things went swimmingly. The clinic was only slightly more expensive than the low-cost programs around, and the staff was super nice.
Bonus: I got to see all sorts of neato dogs and cats! Mini dachshund (named "Stretch" but called "Weiner"), Lab/Chow mix (imagine a black lab with a chow nose and tongue), Boston terrier, 23-pound orange cat, cock-a-poo marked with apricot (whose owner called me cute--squee), teeny terriers, Great Dane.
We got funny looks for our ghetto cat carriers: a Build-A-Bear box that Boots loves to loaf in, and a couple of violently pink pillow shams, but I didn't collect for dadgum crates.

Boots is in what christymarx calls Deep Hiding. Jane is under an end table, being very quiet. Mini Jane is under the curio, skulking, but did give me a nice meow. They are now collared, tagged, shot, and sterile.

Me? I'm really happy. Boots is going to a new home in December, to be a companion to a nice man and his Border collie mix, Jasmin. I will miss his big doofy self, but I know he'll be happy where he's going.

Phase Two happens over the next few weeks as Vincess Venture, Traveler and MeeMee go in. I'm spreading them out. Taking three in at once, for what we gained in efficiency, we lost in stress.

I post pictures of naked tummies when the girls come out again. Bootsie's change was minimal: just a lack of two black pompons. Girl suggested some fakes for him if got distressed, among the ideas werre a pair of pecans painted back and strapped on, or some pompons from the craft store.
