More Past Blast! LEA IN COSPLAY STYLE!
Aug. 2nd, 2004 10:09 amSo, same group of people as were at the aforementioned Christmas party, but this was Halloween of 1997, maybe 1998. (The previous pics, and these, were provided by John Wilson.)
I've long bemoaned the fact that I had no pics of myself as Doris from Vampire Hunter D. I laboriously punched and sewed leather to make the shoulder pads and bra of the dress. Then I glued myself in out of paranoia. We started the evening at Bennigan's, then we went to a 50's club all dressed up and danced and were so rowdy the DJ asked us to amp it down.
John took the pics when we got to his place.
My dear (and dead) friend Roger O'Conner, as Captain Power (seeing this pic made me laugh like a donkey, because a) Roger looks like a doof and b) I'd not forgotten his hard-on for CP, but I'd forgotten he DRESSED as him):

Our friend and sometimes roommate Mike Harris as Lupin III, the Mitazaki version of Monkey Punch's gentleman theif. Mike showed up at dinner late, saying he'd been held up, then kind of shook all over, waved his arms, and jewelry poured out of his sleeves. Brilliant.

Me as Doris from Vampire Hunter D. Not because I liked VHD so much, but because I liked the challenge of engineering the costume. First and last time I EVER wore my hair in two braids.
