Ten years ago, there was JAILED, spearheaded by John O'Donneel of CPM. Now, it's Bandai.

In the 80's and 90's, I would piss me off mightily that I'd go to cons, bust my ass and make almost nothing, while dealers selling pirated vids, unlicensed t-shirts, and mass-produced fetish garments would make thousands.

These pictures were just sent to me by my old friend John Wilson, host of Anime Radio, and are from a Christmas party Mark and I went to in...1988. I think. I am wearing a uniform mess (that's a military tux), I bought from a thrift and took in myself (laboriously), with a purchased cummerbund. The first place I wore it was at a night dance at a Dallas Fantasy Fair. At that time, the dances were well-attended, had killer music, were shitloads of fun, and it was nothing for me to dance for four hours (or more, and still isn't), and be crippled but still on a rush the next day.
My friends broke into spontaneous applause when I walked into the bar in this drag, which was awesome.
At the party itself, everyone who came dressed to the nines, even though it was held in a friend's small apartment. Seeing what everyone came up with made it extra fun. THe girl with me is Karen Helmer, a live ringer for any Leji Matsumoto heroine.
The best line of the party was uttered when one of the attendees opened an Electric Mickey Mouse toothbrush, and my friend next to me leaned over and whispered, "Open wide and let Mickey come inside."

At for my hair: cut me some. It was sixteen years ago!
It's good to see I always had a chipmunk face!
