Dancing and Cracking the 20-Minute Mile
Dec. 8th, 2008 10:25 amDETAILS and GORGEOUS PIX HERE!
I believe I am doing a mile in 20 minutes. A little hard to tell today, since I was stopped twice, once for bus times, once for directions.
I get asked for directions a lot. Guess I have a friendly face.
The pharmacy clerk was shocked I was walking. It's only a mile. I was going to walk there and back, but I'm glad I didn't now. There is uphill. I could have done it, but hey, there's a walk to the post office today, too.
I am still astonished at how much of these very short distances I drove just two months ago. 1.2 miles to the post and back again. 1.2 miles to Hobby Lobby and back. 1 mile to Walgreens and back. A completely embarrassing .6 mile to a take away.
Last night, we went to a holiday party hosted by the Hartman Family Foundation. The Foundation distributes money to local services for special needs kids and their families. It was nice to be in a packed hall and have no one give anyone else the hairy eyeballs for bumps or "strange" behavior. Once the music started in earnest, Summer passed on the chicken dance, but our ride, Deidre danced with me while we sat in our chairs. Then there was YMCA. Then I got up, and danced for 25 minutes to the Hokey Pokey (good for Fox, it helps his coordination and body parts knowledge)*, Macarena, the Cha Cha Slide (which is a long song where you keep moving the whole time to the directions!) without getting the least bit winded.
* I am going to say here that I am such a badass that I can tell one and all that I like dancing to these songs. They're fun. You can't dance to Diamanda Galas.
Now back to painting and mailing out commissions.
