My Boy is AWESOME! And Etc.
Sep. 11th, 2008 10:52 pm With a tiny bit of prompting, Fox ordered his meal at McDonald's! He's done it before, what made this time so great, so happy-making was that he made eye contact, he spoke clearly, and he counted as he got his change!
The lady at the counter was so cool to him, too. I always want to give medals to people who serve my son and his needs without being patronizing or impatient.
This made my day.
At the art supply, I got a sweet discount on a scuffed piece of mat board, which I was willing to take because I only need two small mats.
I have been designing and cutting a stencil for a new shower curtain for the bathroom and curtains for my room. The stencilling is ambitious, but the results should be insanely amazing. . I am experimenting with using media and techniques usually used for painting and printing.
The results should be interesting even if they're not 100% sucessful.
Once it's done, it may even be the first of its kind. I expect that the results will get me BoingBoinged again.
I am enjoying having a room to myself, very much so. It's quiet, no one's throwing a leg over me, and I can keep it clean, instead of having one clean side and gritting my teeth at the other. The shared bedroom looked like an cleaning product before and after picture most of the time.
Meanwhile, Josh Hechinger keeps sending me mail. Every night. It's a good thing he sends awesome script attachments of THE MOON IS MINE, or it'd just be weird.
Another insurance settlement check comes tomorrow. Sweet relief.
We can finally replace a couple pieces of slagged exercise equipment with a treadmill. I am so looking forward to that. The nearest health club is just far away enough that walking to it and back is enough of a workout, but so close that driving to it is just stupid!
My aerobic and physical health have improved a great deal since my "San Francisco's a motherfucker to walk" reality check, and I want to keep that going. I walked home from the art supply tonight, and I didn't get winded, my leg didn't hurt, and I felt good getting some physical activity in.
