MAKE STUFF: It's All Good
Mar. 6th, 2008 03:01 pmBusy trying to finish work for Kynn, Jodi and a commission. There's another on the horizon, for a library, that starts in April. And, there's the ongoing work on the Tori anthology, which is totally under wraps until it debuts at San Diego Nerdi Gras.
Meanwhile, I feverishly study the work of STEPHEN SILVER, Ben Balistreri, Butch Hartman - Creator of The Fairly Odd Parents, (hey, how come that doesn't say "...and Danny Phantom"?) and other fiendishly talented artists who make me want to be a character designer so damn bad. I'm glad I'm making Rumble Girls: RLO so I can design characters and tell stories.
Boy now knows 35 words total, 30 of them down pat. He can spell short sentences I give him.
Jumping on the trampoline has trimmed all of us some. Imagine my surprise. While the kids jump, I do isometrics. Better than trying to find a book to read while I shiver under the yard table's umbrella, and wait for the kids to exhaust themselves.
There is a new digital camera in my life, from King and the kids. Save for my SLR, it's the most complicated camera I've owned. I'm having to learn everything I've avoided by using point and shoot digitals for nine years. (I laugh thinking about my wretchedly expensive 1.5 megapixel.) What it does have that the others have not is depth of field, ability to set "film speed," when the flash fires, ability to use specialized flashes, and some seriously bitchin' zoom.
It makes me wish I had a safe to lock it in. Not a bad thought.
Now Boy can use my old camera and go back to cat camming his life so the rest of us can see through his lens.
My feet are effing cold right now. I am deciding between going to bed and trying to toast them, or staying up and working.
LATER: Still up. Painting.
