RG RLO Door, originally uploaded by DivaLea.

Call it the first official Rumble Girls: Runaway Lightning Ohmry art. It's on the inside of the "Bat"room door in Austin Books.
I had done a different piece on the same door after Scott McCloud's appearance there. Some unimaginative dingleberry grossed it up with vulgar (and pathetic) graffitti, so it had to be painted over.

Brad's reaction to the finished piece was awesome. He walked back to the door and said "Holy shit."

Manga Melee itself was a lot of fun. Good company, and I got to shoot the shit with Paul (Pantheon High) Benjamin for three hours. Mick Gray and Frank Cirocco wandered in, taking a break from The Old Settler's Music Festival (lucky bastards were seeing Joan Osborn and Robbie Fulks later that day). I had not seen either of them in at least ten years.
I was the only non Tokyo Pop creator there, but that was cool. It was really all about our enthusiasm for making comics, that's what we talked about.
Rivkah and Tony and Paul are all very cool peoples! And I really appreciate Brad hosting the event, and Brandon's organization.

I realize I am making this sound deadly dull, but my po' brain is just moosh now. I am thinking about how I have to get up in five hours so Girl can be in line when EB Games opens at 8AM, because tomorrow (today) is Pokemon Diamond and Pearl day.

I have Lindt white chocolate with coconut, so blogging is losing its grip on me. GOOD NIIIIIGHT!

Nothing much art-wise from the studio under the oak, I am making Prickles and watching the rain.
I really enjoy sewing, it relaxes me like nothing else, to the point of being refreshing. Much like [livejournal.com profile] txtriffidranch and gardening.
While he and I are dabbling in mutant plants, there's Brad Bird pushing Ratatouille.
Now, I am scared to bits of handing my work over to someone else for a movie, but I'd so love a Brad Bird-directed Rumble Girls or Texas Steampunk*, wouldn't you?
Enjoy Brad Bird, and soak up what he says about pushing moments and expressions.

*Or a Roberto Rodriguez Texas Steampunk. He could work it.
