ATF: Leaky
Jan. 2nd, 2007 09:24 pmThe contractor found a leak just before Xmas, and it was fixed last week. Fixing involved an insurance adjuster coming and saying it wasn't State Farm's problem, then the contractor chipping into a beam to find the leak, then adding lots of new pipes, then turning on the water again and finding an all-new leak!
Turns out the leak was never where the construction team was so sure it was. The contractor's not charging us for our swell new pipeage under the hall bath. The leak really for sure maybe is in a sewer line than runs under the room I used to occupy, which has a noticeably bulgy floor.
Call State Farm again. See if the bulging floor IS damage caused by leak. Maybe State Farm will agree it is, and send out their own teams. Maybe they won't (again) and we take another shot at finding the leak with our build team.
This might hold up construction, that gives us time to get contents money, which we need to finish things like flooring and to get some furniture. SInce we're going to have the floors done before we move in (because I sure ain't putting furnioture in that I have to move around), a slight delay would be fine.
I have a feeling we're near the end of building, because the whole thing has taken on that "We'll NEVER be finsihed" pull-focus telescoping feeling. That's usually means a home stretch.
