We are off to get Boy from school and run errands. Lisa Jonte will be here later and I am taking a picture of us together for the doubters.
Tomorrow, Lisa's going to the house with us to take pictures.

Still not King.

Lisa is here. Her mother sent a money gift to adopt a kitten. Which had already been done. We went the day of the fire to save the life of a kitten surrendered by two different owners. I just couldn't stand the idea of another cat dying that day. The noob is TinTin. She looks like MiMii, but with long hair. TT is hilariously spastic, as four-month-old cats are. We visited her again today, for some therapy. (In the hospital part of the vet's, the doc was out today, so the assistants were playing Jeff Foxworthy over of music system!)

Lisa showed me a book she'd bought for the flight, a faux altered book in the style of Griffin and Sabine, but with none of the charm. At first glance, it looks lovely, and there are nice touches of detail, but it turns out to be a gaggity murder mystery as unreeled by a scrapbooker. It was so dreadful Lisa used the flight time to mock it with Post-It Notes, and the result is worth reading. The original certainly was not.
Lisa and I are going to the house after a trip to Home Depot for Tyvek coveralls and masks. The smell is sick-making, and gets into clothes, hair, eyes and throat in nothing flat. We're going to take more pictures. King and I and the kids went in today and took out a few things, and walking through was almost unbearably creepy, and we noticed something we hadn't before that makes the Animal Control lady's assurance that the cats didn't suffer hard to believe.
I don't want to keep anything from the house right now. It's all so tainted, so sad, and the amount of cleaning it will take, and how bad it smells, the task is incomprehensibly huge.

Here's photos from the day of the fire.

We are up and down, all of us. Depression and fear come at odd times. I almost passed out in Wal-Mart, as walking through electronics triggered a huge sense of how many DVDs we'd lost. Not that I mourn the loss of DVDs, I don't. But it gave a shape and size to that part of it, and it's HUGE, and it was only a couple shelves' worth.

And now sleep. I can't seem to manage more than four hours a day right now.

Thanks again and again to everyone who sent notes and letters and donations and organized auctions and benefits. You are so wonderful. When I start to feel bad, I remember you're out there thinking of us, and soldier on to honor what you've shared.

Gail's been asked a bunch, so here's what I use:

Copic Sketch Markers. I had accumulated about 70-100. Copic Multiliners in all sizes.
Prismacolor pencils, I had just bought a 48-color set and a bunch of loose pencils. Prismacolor watercolor pencils, a 24-color set.

I had a great deal of Kato Polyclay, a polymer clay. That is the only brand I use, for my sculpting, other than Super Sculpey to mix with for maquette gray. I haven't yet assessed various extras. My metal tools will be okay. The paintbrushes I used for various things are all junk.
My needs with the KatoClay are all the colors. There are a limited number of colors, about fifteen, and I had at least 5 blocks of each, big blocks of white and black, and various glow in the dark/decorative colors from the Premo/Fimo lines.
I bought my polymer supplies from all over, but mainly Polymer Clay Express (www.polymerclayexpress.com), and occassionaly from http://www.avesstudio.com/ (Aves Apoxie for bulking armatures.)

Metric fuckloads of armature wire, a pasta machine with motor drive, many bottles/jars/vials of inclusions of embossing powders, Jacquard powders, a heat gun (for spot curing and embossing).

I guess the most efficient thing is gift certificates for Dick Blick and Polymer Clay Express.

For paper, y'all are going to laugh, maybe, but I used blank scrapbooks because the paper is thick and acid-free. I bought them at Wal-Mart. I also bought a lot of my supplies at Hobby-Lobby (http://www.hobbylobby.com/site3/home2.cfm), and they sell gift cards as well.

That's all I can think of for now.
