Flights make me nuts. The people, the jockeying for the damn armrest, the tininess of the seats. The closeness to other people I do not know.

I need a book to help me. On the return, I will have the sixth Harry Potter. On the way out, I need something. Something LONG. Something entertaining. Not neccessarily fiction. Just lengthy and amusing. I am fond of young adult fiction. My plan was for the last Dark materials book, but I was so disappointed and annoyed with the second, that it's off.

Recommend books, please.

Where is Phantom Brave, which I bought months ago when we had money? It'd be nice to play right now.

I can't sleep. I need to pack, but I can't pack until I pick up t-shirts and wash clothes, and washing's useless unless done the day before.
I need to buy some nylons.
I need to find my favorite socks.
I need to find the mojo cat shoes. Mojo Cat Shoes, WHERE ARE YOOOOO?
I have the stuff to make my hair red, but I don't want to be doing that at 6 AM.
I am thinking of bringing my DVD player, I want to watch something new (to me) and engaging, but let's face it: most movies suck, and many aren't appropriate for on-plane (semi-public) viewing.

I kiiiiinda want to whip up a quick small handbag for evenings in San Diego. I loves my purple cord messenger bag, and I loves my artist's pack Lisa gave me for Xmas, but neither is for evening and I Don't Do Pants With Pockets.

Gurn. Gurn! GURN!

Okay, so what about DVDs? I have four free Blockbuster rentals, that's enough DVD-age to pass the trip handily.

Must be PG-ish. I'll have heaphones, so language isn't an issue, but visuals are.
Must be amusing. I do not want to be making a big girl's blouse of myself on the plane. Laughing, okay. Crying, not so much.
Foreign is okay. I ain't afraid of subtitles.

Lay it on me.

DVD-age!

Here's the hit parade:

Down With Love
Margaret Cho I'm the One That I Want
Stage Beauty
Saved!

Life Aquatic (Henry Selick sequence within, YAY!), Miss Congeniality 2, The Women, and Dead Like Me disc 1 will be gotten after midnight, when the Blockbuster Online site (which rocks hard) gives me my gift rental coupons for July/August. Plus, we got a bunch of Free and Two-Fer coupons when a local store closed.

Oh, how I missed them! So comfy. So amusing. So pretty. So comfy, comfy, comfy.

There's a reason Docs are comic geek shoes. The price kills us, but the wear keeps us. These shoes are almost four constant years on my feet, now. My Mary Jane Docs are six. I've never had shoes last longer than a few months unless I didn't wear them. Docs are a worthwhile investment.

I fixed the strap on the left shoe where the thread had plucked out. Hooray for hemostats, sharp needles, and a sturdy desk for pushing the needle through the leather. Boo for me not thinking of pushing with the desk until halfway through.

Then a polish with saddle soap. The black leather on the toes and heels is hopelessly scuffed (and when did the one toe get such a scar?), but being cleaned properly and then buffed helped a great deal. Some tough-up polish on the white and the black is in order. Hell, a new pair's really in order.

I am now ready for San Diego. Bring it fucking on.
