CAPE!

Was so damn awesome, from Friday (Zeus Gay and Lesbian Mixer), to Saturday night at Sons of Hermann Hall in Deep Ellum.

I had so much fun. Richard Neal has a genius for picking good people to do things with. CAPE was totally smooth--lots of water, coffee deliveries, nice people coming to visit the tables, and hilarity a-plenty. I felt totally comfortable and in my element and ON ON ON.

A shout out to Paul Ridell, who came along and played Lurch, a mighty fine Lurch so I could take bathroom breaks, say hi to other pros, snuggle babies, and be interviewed by Scott Hinze of FanBoy Radio.

I sold "I'm Hurting Comics" buttons, and got an order for special buttons for A-Kon. Moo hoo haha.

More details later. I have no idea how I'm still awake. Thanks to everyone at/with/around CAPE. You made a wonderful weekend!

Night before CAPE, I got to look at Caroline's necklaces and beadwork and ammonites, oh my. Spectacular pieces. Not for your "I could do that/I could get that at WalMart" crowd. No. For people who appreciate art and invention. Let me say again: ART. INVENTION.
And the prettiest, easy-to-close closures. (You make those, too, right?) If you're thinking spring closures from Hobby Lobby, go put your nose in the corner. These won't maul your hair, or your fingertips.
And oh my god, the Dracula pieces. As full of story, subtext and subtlety as a Leo and Diane Dillon painting. Caroline, post pictures.

Forgive me for not posting about what an orgasmic heap I was over the Godivas (especially since my favorites of the selection were miraculously still in the box when I arrived LATE to your place, would've served me right to've been handed a Godiva box with air in it)--
--BECAUSE THE JEWELRY WAS BETTER.

Yes.

Caroline, Paul and I were all up too late amusing each other, and laughing at the cats. Everyone crashed around two. I awakened to find Paul already dressed in black, with a dinosaur print tie. We shuffled around quietly (I hope), so that Czarina could get every minute of sleep she needed. Teen Titans was freaking pre-empted for I forget what. I got myself together, got a compliment from the now-awake Caroline, and Paul and I were out the door to CAPE. We made a pit stop at Jason's Deli and Starbucks. JD gave us extra stuff in the bag. Paul made himself walk into Starbucks, but I was done already and got him out before he had a PTSD flashback and started clubbing everyone with espresso pitchers and screaming, "NO MORE VARIATIONS! DRINK THE FUCKING COFFEE AND SHOP MORE, YOU CONSUMER WHORES!"
The people outside were nice, though. They got all excited about the prettiness of my caramel macchiato (with whip), and went inside to get themselves some o' dat.
Paul and I chowed down on our JD food while we continued to Zeus, discussing the evidence all around us of the nesting habits of the Polo-Crested Highland Park Newbie. (Which is to raze a perfectly nice bungalow and replace it with a McMansion with one each from the selection of McMansion windows. And people who have a carriage driveway on a new house should be whipped for the poseur fools they are.) I had a croissant club, and it was amazingly tasty and FILLING. Good thing, becuase I (HAPPY!), barely had time to think again until 6:30 that night.

NEXT ROCK!
