Coconut's First Litter Blues
Jan. 1st, 2005 03:43 amNot a single survivor: they were all born dead, and she ate them all. Really massively depressing, and put me right off ham. Girl Child is off gummy bears.
I was afraid something was wrong when she was acting as if she was in heat about 12 hours before she went into labor. Being in heat meant all the hormones that supported the life of her kittens were gone and the hormones for mating were back.
Coconut's lucky: she could've not delivered at all and died, but she seems to be doing well. She's perky and curious and hungry.
We're going to try again when she's had time to recover and is for sure not infected or affected in any way.
But what a terrible disappointment.
